Jackie Shroff's son Tiger Shroff is set to debut in Sajid Nadiadwala’s upcoming film Heropanti

For producer Sajid Nadiadwala, 2013 is turning out to be a landmark year. On Apr. 6, “Heropanti” starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon goes on floors in Patiala , and the film is suppose to release on Valentine’s Day 2014. This is a significant date as almost two decades ago Nadiadwala’s “Judwaa,” starring Salman Khan, had its first schedule on the same day and was the producer’s breakthrough film despite an earlier success in “Waqt Hamara Hai” (1993).

“Heropanti” will release in 2014 on Valentine’s Day, which is Feb. 14. A return to the action-romance genre, “Heropanti” will have Nadiadwala’s wife Wardha and his mom giving the first clap for the film without any traditional “muhurat,” as the filmmaker believes he gets all the good luck from the two women in his life.

Nadiadwala said in a press release, “I have always believed in giving breaks to deserving people. So far I have given major breaks to many leading ladies and young directors. I have full faith in Tiger and his talent. This boy is going to redefine action and dance, the way we see it. Working with newcomers has its own energies, and I am looking forward to this shoot.”

Nadiadwala is a third-generation auteur — his father and grandfather were also well-known filmmakers of their time — and he is counted today among the top independent producers in Mumbai. His production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. is associated only with films that have A-list stars, lavish budgets and high production values.

A lawyer by education, Nadiadwala started out by assisting on projects developed by his family before venturing out on his own. His upcoming productions include “Kick” starring Salman Khan, which he directs himself, and “Two States” starring Arjun Kapoor, which is a co-production with Dharma Productions.

“Heropanti” is directed by Sabir Khan and has music by Sajid-Wajid. Incidentally, 30 years ago, Tiger’s father Jackie Shroff, already a big name in modeling then, turned hero with Subhash Ghai’s blockbuster “Hero.”
